At the 2001 Stockholm meeting of ICANN, a meeting was called of the European Internet Community present.  At that meeting and following concern about the slow progress of the creation of the .eu domain name, Clive Stanbrook QC was mandated to facilitate a meeting of the European Internet Community in Brussels on 13th July 2001.
